PA. Jamie Hyndman

I was born in the United States in beautiful Colorado and grew up surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. I started my career in healthcare in 1999 as an EMT and spent the next six years working on the ambulance and in the emergency department. During this time, I attended university and in 2002 graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences along with a minor in anatomy and neurobiology. In my spare time I volunteered for a mountain search and rescue organization and over six years (when not on missions), helped teach various mountain awareness and prevention courses to the community. I graduated in 2008 from the highly ranked University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine with a Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies (Go Hawks!). I spent the following six years as a provider in internal medicine (both inpatient and outpatient) then transitioned to urgent care in 2014 where I have found my calling.

My husband and I fell in love with New Zealand after we spent our honeymoon here in 2010 and always dreamed of returning to live and work. Our dream came true in 2021 when I was offered an opportunity to work in Urgent Care at Hastings Health Centre.

When not working in Urgent Care, I like to spend time with my husband and two amazing children exploring the beautiful outdoors, travelling and helping promote the Physician Associate profession in an effort to fill the provider shortage in New Zealand.
